(Urinary frequency criteria; rated under 38 CFR 4.115a.); 20% — Voiding dysfunction requiring the wearing of absorbent materials which must be changed less than 2 times per day; OR urinary frequency with daytime voiding interval between 1 and 2 hours, or awakening to void 3 to 4 times per night; OR obstructed voiding with urinary retention requiring intermittent or continuous catheterization.; 40% — Voiding dysfunction requiring the wearing of absorbent materials which must be changed 2 to 4 times per day; OR urinary frequency with daytime voiding interval less than 1 hour, or awakening to void 5 or more times per night.; 60% — Voiding dysfunction requiring the use of an appliance or the wearing of absorbent materials which must be changed more than 4 times per day. What evidence do I need for a enlarged prostate (bph) VA claim?

Evidence that helps includes: Urology or primary-care treatment records documenting BPH diagnosis (DC 7527); Voiding diary or provider notes recording daytime voiding interval and nocturia frequency; Documentation of absorbent-material (pad) use and number of daily changes; Records of any urinary appliance use; Records of urinary retention and any catheterization (intermittent or continuous); VA Genitourinary Conditions DBQ completed by examiner; Post-void residual / uroflowmetry or imaging supporting obstructed voiding, if applicable; Documentation of any recurrent UTIs requiring drug therapy or hospitalization.

How do I get the correct rating for enlarged prostate (bph)?

To be rated accurately: DC 7527 instructs rating as voiding dysfunction, urinary frequency, or obstructed voiding — whichever produces the predominant area of dysfunction; the criteria come from 38 CFR 4.115a.; Rate under the single subcategory (voiding dysfunction, urinary frequency, OR obstructed voiding) that yields the highest evaluation for the veteran's predominant symptom — do not stack subcategories.; Voiding dysfunction (leakage/incontinence requiring pads or appliance) tops out at 60%; urinary frequency tops out at 40%; obstructed voiding tops out at 30%.; Quantify pad changes and nighttime voids with exact numbers — these are the pivot points between tiers.; If both urinary tract infection and voiding dysfunction exist, note that recurrent UTI is rated separately under 4.115a but only one urinary manifestation area is used for the primary rating..
