Plain-English promise. Your records are yours. We use them only to help you understand and prepare your own claim. We never sell your data, never share it for advertising, and you can delete it at any time.
- We are a self-help tool — we advise, we do not represent you or file claims, and we are not affiliated with the VA or DoD.
- Records you upload are stored encrypted on our own server and in encrypted, our-key backups — never on Google or a public drive.
- To analyze your records we send them to our AI provider — Anthropic (the Claude models) — over an encrypted (TLS) connection, with access controls and audit logging. Anthropic does not use your data to train its models.
- You can delete any file anytime, and request full deletion of your account and data.
1 · Who we are
US Vet Help is operated by Outlaw Holdings LLC. It was built by a 100%-disabled combat veteran to help other veterans navigate the claims process. Contact us about privacy at privacy@usvethelp.org.
2 · What we are — and are not
US Vet Help is an educational and document-preparation tool, similar to consumer tax-preparation software. We do not provide legal advice, we are not VA-accredited, we do not represent you before the VA, and we do not file claims on your behalf. You review everything and you file. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or the Department of Defense.
3 · What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address (used for passwordless "magic-link" sign-in).
- Documents you upload: e.g. VA/DoD medical records, decision and rating letters, service records. These may contain protected health information (PHI) and personal identifiers.
- Anything you type into our tools (buddy-letter answers, labels, claim-status data you paste).
Collected automatically
- A single session cookie (
usv_session) to keep you signed in. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies. - Basic server logs (IP, timestamp) for security, kept briefly.
4 · How we use your information
We use your documents and inputs only to analyze your records and generate your results — suggested rating opportunities, prepared drafts (e.g. nexus and buddy letters for your own doctor to review and sign), and educational guidance. We do not use your records to train AI models, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
5 · AI processing
To read and analyze your records, we send them to our AI provider — Anthropic (the Claude models) — over an encrypted (TLS) connection, with strict access controls and audit logging. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. Where practical, personally identifying details are reduced before analysis. US Vet Help is a direct-to-consumer, self-service tool — you choose what to provide; we are not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate.
6 · Storage & security
- On our server: uploads go straight into a locked, access-restricted folder on our own server — never a public or consumer cloud.
- Encryption at rest: our storage volume is encrypted (AES-256).
- Encryption in transit: all connections use TLS/HTTPS.
- Backups: encrypted with a key we control before leaving our server, stored off-site. Because we encrypt with a key we control before it leaves our server, the provider cannot read your files.
No system is perfectly secure, but we protect your records with encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
7 · How long we keep it
You control your uploads — delete any file at any time from the analyzer with the ✕. You may also ask us to delete your account and all associated data by emailing privacy@usvethelp.org. We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service to you.
8 · Your rights
- Access — get a copy of what we hold about you.
- Delete — remove individual files, or your whole account and data.
- Correct — fix inaccurate account information.

9 · Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the tool work (our AI processor and our encrypted-backup provider, both under confidentiality terms), or if required by law. We never share your records with the VA, DoD, or any third party for their own use.
10 · Children
US Vet Help is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
11 · Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes affecting how we handle your records will be communicated to signed-in users.
